Performance analysis of multicore processors using multi-scaling techniques

چکیده
Integrating more cores per chip enables programs to run simultaneously, and easily switch from one program another, the system performance will be improved significantly. However, this current trend of central processing unit (CPU) cannot maintained since budget power has not risen while consumption core slowly reduced. Generally, processor’s maximum is proportional product number their frequency they are running at. usually limited by constraints power. In study, first, voltage/frequency adjustment been analyzed for several improve within constraint Second, impact dynamically scaling summarized additional improvements active applications. Finally, it verified that simultaneously can a higher dissipation or under constraints. The analysis obtained in real-time simulation on Linux operating using GEM5 simulator. Results indicated improvement was attained at 59.98%, 33.33%, 66.65% three scenarios, respectively.

Compiler Parallelization Techniques for Tiled Multicore Processors
Recently, tiled multicore processors have been proposed as a solution to provide both performance and scalability. Unlike conventional multicore processors, tiled microprocessors provide on-chip networks to exploit fine-grained parallelism. However, the performance of tiled microprocessors largely depends on compilers because of their relatively simple hardware; exploitation of parallelism, com...

متن کاملExploring Performance and Power Scaling in Multi-Core Processors
The demand for lower power over higher performance processors has increased over the past few years, leading to multi-core architectures. The current trend being favoring few powerful cores over a larger number of simpler, smaller cores. We address the tradeoff between these two design decisions by considering Pollack’s Rule for single cores and applying it with Amdahl’s law to multi-core archi...
متن کاملPerformance of Private Cache Replacement Policies for Multicore Processors
Multicore processors have become ubiquitous, both in general-purpose and special-purpose applications. With the number of transistors in a chip continuing to increase, the number of cores in a processor is also expected to increase. Cache replacement policy is an important design parameter of a cache hierarchy. As most of the processor designs have become multicore, there is a need to study cac...
متن کاملPerformance Implications of Cache Affinity on Multicore Processors
Cache affinity between a process and a processor is observed when the processor cache has accumulated some amount of the process state, i.e., data or instructions. Cache affinity is exploited by OS schedulers: they tend to reschedule processes to run on a recently used processor. On conventional (unicore) multiprocessor systems, exploitation of cache affinity improves performance. It is not yet...
